let him take the water of life freely.
In the prophetic book of Revelation the Bible teaches that the Holy Spirit and the bride both say, come. They ask all to freely drink of the water of life.
Rev 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
Am I not alive right now?
What is this water?
This scripture is a reference back to What Jesus taught in the book of John.
Joh 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
This water is said to be for everlasting life. Oh, I think everyone would like some of that. But how, oh how can anyone get this? Further down in this book Jesus is found speaking about this water again.
Joh 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
Joh 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
Joh 7:39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
So, this is talking about believing on Christ. One must believe on Christ to receive this “living water”. But what is it? Look at this following passage for clarification.
Joh 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
Joh 3:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. (You see, Jesus had to be lifted so that they that believe in Him would be able to have eternal life)
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (God’s sent his only begotten son so that we might have eternal life.)
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
That last verse says that if you have not believed on Christ then you are condemned already. You may think you are a good person, but if you do not believe on Jesus Christ, then you are condemned, and will perish in hell.
So you see this water of life is eternal life through Jesus Christ. It is not just for this world, but for the world to come. It never ends.
The Bible teaches that Jesus is the only way to heaven.
Joh 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Many people place their trust in their church, or their priest, or their good works, but the Bible says Jesus is the only way.
You see, we have broken His commandments, and because of this we fall short of God’s glory. (Romans 3:23) That is the reason Christ came and died for us. He died for our sins. The Bible says this for everyone’s sin.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
There is no sin Christ’s blood will not cover. All we as sinners must do to be saved is to believe on Jesus Christ, and on his death, burial, and resurrection.
Mar 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
